I have a house on the island but we would rather
the visitors brought their own tents etc. They would be able to use the
facilities in the house. I would be prepared to be the cook (great fry ups!!).
Amateur operation is from a Barn (boothy in Scottish), dry and plenty of room.
Lots of 230V AC Power available and lots of space for antennas. If you are
thinking of Rhombics on Top Band that's fine but bring your own masts! The only
aerial there at the moment, that can be erected in a few minutes is a full
sized G5RV. We could also supply equipment if you did not want to bring your
own-FT1000MP/IC706/FT747
Lots of interesting things for children yl's and xyl's whilst the OM's are
operating.
Costs to be arranged. To get to the island you have to go by boat or
helicopter. We can arrange either! A helicopter trip over the Highlands of
Scotland amongst the eagles is something you will not forget but it isn't
CHEAP! You would fly from Inverness.
Pabay is a rare Scottish Island in the IOSA (Islands of Scotland on the Air)
Islands, it is IOTA EU-008. The island also issues its own stamps (see Web
Site) . We would issue special stamps for your expedition. If you wish we would
also apply for a special call sign.
WX can be very variable and during months of July/Aug and early September there
are Midges (mosquito-like bugs) as big as blackbirds on the Island!
