From Val Green, (GW4VAG’s XYL):

I have filled in the new info page and I attach here for you our information sheet. We do not charge visitors for the use of our antennas and radios, we do expect a donation for our favorite charity the Royal Lifeboat Institution (Modest donation). We are out on the Lleyn Peninsula in north west Wales, 500 ft ASL and our basic site is about three acres, we do have another twenty acres as well (Pony). We are very handy for folks working IOTA as we are very close to St.Tudwals Islands (EU 106), and we have acted as base and supply for folks working from the islands. We are fortunate here in that we can play radio and there are no neighbours to complain about TVI etc. We can work Irish station simplex on two metres, work the Dublin repeater on milliwatts, so in these days of crowded urban times we are a little oasis for radio hams to let their hair down. Happy new year and best regards. Val Green (GW4VAG's XYL)

Tynrhos  is situated about six miles west of the town of Pwllheli in the county of Gwynedd, the villages of Abersoch and Llanbedrog are two miles from us, Nefyn and Porth Dinllaen are seven miles  away from us up on the north side of the peninsula, Aberdaron / Bardsey Island are nine miles west of us, we are centrally situated in beautiful countryside, hills and mountains.

Our Facilities:  Caravan: We have a seven berth caravan complete with it’s own toilet and shower, the van is fully equipped with pillows, sheets, cutlery, pots and pans, colour TV, radio, microwave cooker and fridge, the only static van on our site.  £155.00 a week excepting July and August when £165.00 a week. The caravan can also be hired part week dividing the weekly hire rate into daily rates , or when available at £8.00 per person per night. We can supply breakfasts if required at about £5.00 per head.

Bunkhouse :  The bunkhouse sleeps five, two sets of double bunks and a ‘put you up’. The bunkhouse is fully equipped with cooker, pots and pans, cutlery, TV and Radio etc. The bunks are fitted with bottom sheets and pillowcases, but sleeping bags are required. Folks who do not want to cater for themselves we can provide a full and substantial breakfast for £5.00 per person. Bunkhouse rates are £5.50 a head per night, £6.00 in July and August.

Bunkhouse:  3 / 2  The 3/2 bunkhouse is not unlike a Portacabin with two separate rooms, one room  contains three bunks and the other has two bunks, both rooms have cooking facilities complete with pots and pans, cutlery etc.,both rooms have TV and radio. The access to the rooms is via separate outside doors. Bunkhouse rates £5.50 per night excepting July and August when £6.00 per night. Breakfasts available.

Camping :  We have plenty of sheltered camping area with room for car and boat parking, flush toilets and hot showers, fridge and freezer space is also available for campers use. Camping space  is costed at £2.50 per person/night. Guests booked in for a week or more will receive a discount. We have a large covered barbecue area for the use of our visitors, get your food and fuel and go for it, breakfasts are available too.

Birdwatchers :  We are central for all the best sites and have local ancient  woodlands close at hand, this is also “Chough” country.

Motorcyclists: Secure parking and a special welcome from fellow enthusiasts.

DIVERS : Our compressors are on all the year round for the visiting diver, our large air bank ensures there is a minimum wait while cylinders are filled: Double filtered air for NITROX sets at no extra charge.

Radio Amateurs: Hams visiting our site can make use of our antennas and also use our radio gear under supervision. Our antennas are the Cushcraft four element beam for 10/15 and 20 and above that the Cushcraft three element beam for 24/18, we also have the Cushcraft R7 vertical ant.covering 40 through to 10 (Inc.WARC Bands), a six ele. Quad for two metres, we also have a horiz. Wire loop (150 metres) for Top Band and a trapped dipole for anything else, currently our rigs are a Kenwood TM241E and a Kenwood TS870 and a Kenwood TS440, we are 550 feet ASL, there are no near neighbours, so no TVI problems. The ants are on wind up masts so we can work DX so long as the WX conditions allow, no charge made for the use of the ants and radio gear but a little something in the “Lifeboat Fund” will be appreciated.

Touring Caravans:  Small touring caravans are welcome and we can supply a power hook-up if required, kindly give us some notice please.

Golf : We are conveniently situated for you to reach several good courses, i.e. Abersoch, Beaumaris, Royal St.Davids Harlech, Trearddur Bay  ***

Boat Parking :  Boats may safely be left on our site, our usual charge is 35p per foot hull length per week, saves that drag on the next week end visit, Guests boat parking is free during their stay with us.

Stargazers : *** For those folks who like to study stars and satellites we are in the fortunate position where we do not experience the ‘Bloom’ of city lights pollution in our sky, well anyway we like it. (No Charge of Course)

How to find us:   Leaving Pwllheli take the Abersoch / Aberdaron Road  , it’s the A497 becoming the A499 at the roundabout just west outside of Pwllheli, follow this road   to the village of Llanbedrog, its four miles or less, as you enter the village of Llanbedrog you need to turn right up the hill opposite the pub named “ GLEN y WYDDW”,this road is the A4413 to Aberdaron, drive straight through the village until you arrive at MYNYTHO village, (about a mile). At MYNYTHO keep right at the post office junction until you arrive at the village garage, just past the garage (25 yards?) turn right, the village school is then in front of you, turn right again there and drive along for about half a mile to the ‘T’ junction at the end of the road, now turn left and we are the second drive on the left, you’ll see the house sign as you come around the RH bend just a short way from the ‘T’ junction you turned left at. If you get lost call us on 01758 740712.
