Rent-a-QTH on St Croix. Herb, KV4FZ has a location that's great for a DX operation on St. Croix. There is a small apartment next to the ham shack. The location is on the south shore of St. Croix about 300 meters from the water in an open area with acres of beverages for the low bands. The equipment available consists of Icom 765 and a Drake L-4B (with 160 meter modifications). The price of $995 for four days and three nights is for a single operator. If another op or XYL is part of the package the price goes to $1295 and includes continental breakfast and light lunch during the contest. The antenna farm has a 78 foot Rohn 25G which is top loaded for 160m. There is an 80 and 40 meter delta loop on those bands. A High Gain 204BA is for 20 meters. A K6SE Pennant and two 800 foot Beverages are used for Receive. With the quoted price you get technical assistance and tower climber for any custom setup the person wishes. (Information Provided by KV4FZ in November 2000.)
FYI : Herb has 10 and 15m long
boom Yagis on the ground, but cannot all be mounted on the tower. For an all-band operation, Herb suggests
shipping down a tribander, or 10/15 duobander, and he will install it prior to
your arrival. Contact Herb for more
details.
