This location is for serious DXpeditions only. Cocos island is essentially a deserted island – there are no facilities.
A lot of background information can be found from the TI9M 2002 website: www.qsl.net/ti9m
Some notes from Bob, N4CD (April,
2002): We operated /ti5 in
Alejuela....no hassles getting local license for any area of country (except
Cocos/TI9 - which is a major hassle). Usually can fax/email request
to the CNR, with copy of your home license, and copy of first page of
passport. They will fax back (in country), or maybe email copy back to
you. You can then pick up license in person. As soon as you get
fax, you can operate.
