Ham Friendly Hotel: Gerben, PA5NT (ex. PA0GAM) has a great web page his 1996 VK9GA Christmas Island operation with a lot of details on where to operate from. Check out his web page at: http://dx.to/
Ham Friendly Hotel: Captains Last Resort.
Steve, VK3SIX provided the following information in August 2003:

Single self contained room overlooking the Ocean, the ultimate in DX locations and for low bands and 6M to Europe.
Ham Friendly Hotels (various):
This report was filed by David, VK2CZ (VK9XD November 2003)
Christmas Island Resort +61 8 9164 8888 The Christmas Island Resort, although 8 km from 'town' has the advantage of wide open antenna spaces between the (very large) rooms and the ocean, and no TVI, as they have satellite TV only and there are no residents nearby. Ask about 'Block 1', as this is very ham friendly. The outlook from here is North thru South looking east.
Sunset Lodge, Gaze Road: Update
as at 7 Nov'03. The Sunset Lodge has been fitted with quality HP filters on
their TV system, making it ham friendly on HF. Gary is happy to accommodate
hams there, and has assisted with neatly placed eye hooks on the barge boards
for wire antennas.
The Cricket and Sporting Club is now part of a larger development with an
immigration center and a huge (mostly empty) accommodation complex within 40m
of the site. The accommodation complex TV system has been fitted with 65Mhz HP
filters, but their terrestrial TV uses a masthead amplifier - go carefully.
This is an almost flat piece of land around 312m ASL.

The Cricket Field club house that they describe is on top of the island, and
there are no cliffs to block signals.
I operated from a building about 300 feet from the Cricket Field in 1992
(VK9XN) and 1993 (VI9XN).
