I Visited in 4/1991. I FLEW FROM WELLINGTON NEW ZEALAND ~ TWICE A WEEK FLIGHTS ~ $350USA FOR FLIGHT (SOME TIMES LEAVES FROM CHRISTCHURCH) WILL COST EXTRA FOR YAGIS ETC,
POPULATION ABOUT 350 to 560 people ,can hire 4wd car dirt roads, stay at Chathams lodge ,he has lots of hams stay there. OK for putting up yagi etc ,(info on internet ) I HAVE CONTACTS ON ISLAND TO RENT HOUSE EMAIL ME ,TWO STORES ON THE ISLAND TO BUY STUFF FROM ,MANY PLACES HAVE POWER OR GENSET OR WIND GENERATOR FOR POWER. TAKE EVERYTHING AS PLACE ALWAYS RUNS OUT OF WHAT YOU NEED. ONE PUB ,ALWAYS COLD BEER ,LOVERY PLACE TO GO TO ITS LIKE GOING BACK 40 YEARS IN SOME PARTS. NOTE TWO GRID SQUARES ON ISLAND (MADENHEAD MAP IS WRONG ) OWENGA SOUTH EAST IS JUST IN RARE SQUARE I WILL BE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR FOR 6MTRS ~ APR2002 .TALK TO ME IF NEEDED. MY BEST FRIENDS BROTHER LIVES THEIR, SHIP TRAVEL VERY LIMITED
