What are the
different QTH types available? Generally I have created two types of DXpedition
QTH's: "Rent-a-QTH", and "Ham Friendly QTH".
Rent-a-QTH: is a location that already has (some) ham equipment set
up, and sometimes has complete station (this is not always the case, so
read carefully!). This kind of location is great for first time
DXpeditioners, or even experienced operators looking for an easy trip.
Usually there is a ham to help you.
Ham Friendly QTH: Hams have used this location before, but you need
to bring ALL your equipment and antennas with you! This kind of location is
for the "do it yourself" person who has the knowledge to be a
self sufficient DXpeditioner. Often these are great ham radio locations,
but your are on your own to do all the preparation work yourself
(licensing, equipment/antenna transportation, etc).
FYI: Unfortunately, I didn't keep
records of all information sources for some of the Ham Friendly
locations. Sorry.
Check out the listings by continent, or check out the resources listed to the right…
Happy
Traveling!
